Summer

The Rila mountains are a very well kept secret. The region offers fantastic opportunities for exploring mountain walks, lakes and national monuments. The Hotel Invicta is within reach of the most famous Bulgarian treasures.

If you like walking we are located in the gateway to the Rila National park where there are countless mountain tracks and national walking routes to suit all abilities. Of particular note are the walks to the Seven Lakes and up to Musala Peak which is the highest mountain in Bulgaria.  It is possible to explore the mountain trails near Borovets and the Seven lakes by using the cable cars to start your journey up the mountain.

If you have an interest in culture, the capital city Sofia is not far away. You can head to the South to the ancient city of Plovdiv which has a Roman Amphitheatre and an old quarter which are fascinating and easy to access.  The most famous landmark is the Rila Monastery which is located over the mountain range and is a World Heritage site.  In Borovets is the King’s palace, and in Samokov which is a market town, you can visit several cultural sites, including an ancient Mosque, local museum and church.

When the temperature reaches mid-30 degrees in mid-July to mid-September it is great to just relax and enjoy the sunshine. There are open air spa facilities in local towns which are very reasonably priced, swimming pools and lakeside beaches are great for all the family.

We can help you to hire a car at the airport. You will find it very easy to get around as the roads are not busy and all the famous sites are all easy to access by car with virtually free parking in most locations.

A small group of us used this as our base for a week of walking. We were looked after extremely well and the food was something to really look forward to in the evening. A lot of the walks were not marked on the map but we had no problem following them as they are clearly defined in the landscape. Weather was perfect too.

Went for a short summer break and to be quite honest was not expecting that much. Boy was I surprised, great place to stay and eat and the staff, mixture of English and Bulgarian, could not have been more helpful. Felt more like being at home.

Tucked away underneath the edge of the forest Hotel Invicta was a perfect place. At night you get a great view of the stars as there's no light pollution here. It was a truly peaceful place to stay.
